What it is

Footi has been running at Little Thunder since 2020. For the new season, we’re exploring new ways to make match data feel more immediate, including AR line-ups and match events.

Footi AR places both starting XIs on a virtual pitch in front of you. You can move around the formation, tap into player stats and scrub through the match to see goals, cards and substitutions as they happened.

It also works as a 3D preview when camera access is not available, so the experience is not limited to AR-capable devices.

Why

A normal match report is great for checking the score and stats. But formations and substitutions are much easier to understand when you can actually see them take shape.

This is an experiment in making the match report feel less like a table of data and more like something you can explore.

What’s next

The demo currently handles line-ups, player details, match stats and a timeline of key events. Next up is refining the AR experience, testing it with live fixtures and working out where it fits best in Footi for the new season.

The technical demo is in good shape: it has graceful 3D fallback, live-fixture support, event playback and a fully tested data layer.
